YSA Update

Published Wed 06 Jul 2022

This article was emailed to South Australian Club News contacts on 6 July 2022:

At the recent Australian Sailing (AS) South Australian Club Conference, Yachting South Australia (YSA) President Kirsty Dunn presented a discussion on the consideration of the de-registration of YSA as a separate Incorporated Association, to be replaced by a Regional Advisory Committee (RAC), as a committee of Australian Sailing the same as in NSW, TAS and VIC.

A copy of the presentation which details the rationale, key considerations, and benefits of this, can be found via the link below:

During the discussion, there was in-principle support of the concept by the clubs represented at the conference.

The main questions raised from the floor were regarding the details of the treatment of YSA assets under the new RAC structure and the details of the RAC charter which would replace the YSA constitution.

The YSA Board will now collate all feedback from Clubs and Class Associations and continue discussions with AS and the RACs in NSW, TAS and VIC, to draft the SA RAC charter and consider how the YSA assets are treated. Once drafted, this would be presented back to the SA Clubs & Class Associations for refinement before presenting at the YSA AGM on 20th September 2022 as a discussion paper.

If any Clubs or Class Associations have any questions, concerns or feedback on the matter, please send them via email to ian.leeson@sailing.org.au before 15th July 2022 so that this can be collated and discussed at the next YSA Board meeting, which will be held on the 25th July.
