YSA Deregistration Update

Published Fri 09 Dec 2022

Since the Club Conference in June this year, the Yachting South Australia (YSA) board has been communicating with SA clubs on the topic of deregistration.

Deregistration is the process where YSA would be wound up as an incorporated association and be replaced by a Regional Advisory Committee, as part of Australian Sailing, as is now the structure in NSW, TAS and VIC.

A briefing was most recently provided to clubs at the YSA Annual General Meeting on 20th September, 2022.

The YSA board has now met this week to consider feedback received from clubs. There have been minimal concerns raised to date, with a majority of clubs supportive of the process. As such, the YSA Board have decided to continue on the path of deregistration.

Accordingly, YSA is aiming to hold a Special General Meeting on Monday 6th March 2023.

This is intended to be formalised at the next YSA board meeting in early February, after which meeting papers will be distributed.

In the meantime, the YSA board is available to discuss the topic and can be contacted here: YSA board members
