  • Care and caregiving, including medical care or to get a COVID-19 test
  • Exercise (maximum of 2hrs a day, with either your household or 1 other person)
  • Authorised work and permitted study
  • To get a COVID-19 vaccination..

For Sailing this means that Club Organised Sailing can not continue. However, recreational Sailing is allowed.

Can I check if my boat is secure

Yes, this should be incorporated into your 2hr exercise window. Where you live outside of your 5km radius, you should ask a family member/friend to check on your boat during this time and only attend if it is for emergency reasons that cannot be postponed.

Boat maintenance and repairs

Self-maintenance (by a non-authorised worker) and repairs should be postponed unless for emergency reasons.

Can I still go Sailing?

Louise Atwood, Acting Director for sport, recreation, and Racing COVID-19 response, has confirmed the following.

Recreational fishing and boating (including sailing) are permitted as long as the activity doesn’t require the use of a facility and is within 5km of home. This means that:

• members must use their own equipment but are not permitted to access a facility to retrieve equipment (a facility includes sheds, enclosed yards, and private marinas, maintained for the purpose of providing active or passive recreation)

• the exercise is limited to just one other person, plus dependants if they can’t be left at home

• the exercise must take place between 5 am and 9 pm

• face masks must be worn at all times outdoors and indoors (not at home) unless an exception applies.

(https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/sport-and-exerciseRecreational states activities that require the use of a facility will not be allowed. Facilities such as tennis clubs, bowls clubs, shooting ranges and golf clubs are closed. Outdoor activities that can be undertaken without accessing a facility, such as hunting, are permitted within the 5km and 2 hour limits)

Can I access my club room to have a shower?

No club rooms are considered a facility and must not be opened. Come prepared and return home to have a shower.
