Upcoming Courses in the Central Coast/Newcastle Area

Please see the below information about upcoming Australian Sailing courses in the Lake Macquarie/Newcastle area. These courses are a great opportunity to upskill your members and further grow the sport of sailing we all love and enjoy. We have tried to spread these courses around the state so that members don't have to travel to far to attend a course.

Club Judge Course

The Club Judge course is aimed at educating Australian Sailing members in the basics to conduct fair and consistent protest procedure at a club level.

Club Race Officer Course

The Club Race Officer course is aimed at educating Australian Sailing members in the basics to conduct consistent, fair and safe club racing.

Equipment Auditor Course

The National Equipment Auditor (NEA) Scheme provides a system for organising authorities (Clubs) to nominate Club Equipment Auditors (CEA) to audit boats for Category 3-7 race or National Equipment Auditors (NEA) for a Category 1-2 Race. The Club and National Equipment Auditor (CEA) seminars are a free safety service provided to help ensure safety standards are consistently met through equipment compliance.

These courses will be run at Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club on the 15th June 2019

Assistant Instructor Course

This course focuses on the skills that an Assistant Instructor will need to assist a qualified Australian Sailing Instructor in delivering dinghy training courses. This qualification is for those who wish to progress in the sport by helping others who are learning.

Dinghy Instructor Course

This course aims to teach instructors how to deliver the first three courses of the Dinghy Program including Start Sailing 1, Start Sailing 2 and Better Sailing. Participants will learn and practise effective techniques for theory and practical instructing with continuous feedback and support.

Keelboat Instructor Course

This course aims to teach instructors how to deliver the introductory courses of the Keelboat Program including Start Crewing and Start Helming. Participants will learn and practise effective techniques for theory and practical instructing with continuous feedback and support.

Sailing Coach Course

This course aims to build the capacity and capability of Sailing Clubs by training and developing individual Sailing Coaches that will be responsible for coaching the next era of sailors/ athletes. Focusing on coaching fundamentals that can be adapted to any specific class, the online component of the course is 6-hours, followed by the 2.5 day face-to-face course.
