Three of a Kind and Cock of the Swan
Published Fri 06 Mar 2020
On Sunday 22nd March, Mounts Bay Sailing will be hosting the WA dinghy sailing community for two unique events on the calendar; Cock of the Swan and Three of a Kind regatta.
Coming off a busy and successful Moth Worlds and Sharpie Nationals, the club looks to extend the tradition of these two great events.
The Three of a Kind regatta is the only teams event on the WA sailing calendar where great rivalries between classes are tested. Any class can win in this yardstick event. The Moths will look to go back to back but will have to do so with a tougher yardstick. The Sharpies have been close in recent years as well as International 14ft Skiffs, Tasars and Vipers! All classes race together in one of three divisions; Monohull A, Monohull B and Multihull.
Will the Moths beat the Foiling Windsurfers? will it be not windy enough to foil and therefore favour classes such as the I14s? Perhaps a light forecast could even see The Cadillac or Black Betty enter the cock of the swan!
Mounts Bay Sailing Club has invited teams from around WA to enter for a great day with the broader dinghy sailing community.
The regatta run in conjunction with another WA classic, The Cock of the Swan. This iconic event in WA Sailing has been running for over 50 years. Previously dominated by skiff classes, it has recently been taken over by the foilers.
MBSC is combining these two events with Veteran’s day, where sailors and members of days gone by are invited to enjoy the spectacle so it promises to be a big day for the club.
