The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron’s 2019 Sail Brisbane
Published Mon 28 Oct 2019
The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron’s 2019 Sail Brisbane Regatta (Off the Beach Classes, All Ages) entry list is starting to fill-in, with entries from the Finn, Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, OK Dinghy, Optimist and VX Ones classes.
The influx of OK Dinghies (6 so far), mostly from Southport Yacht Club on the Gold Coast, can be attributed to the class’s preparation for the 2023 Worlds, also being held by the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron on the waters of Moreton Bay. The event will also serve as the VX One Queensland State Championships (the class expecting 15 entries), and the 29er Queensland State Championships for 2019. The Finn Class is also expected to produce a solid fleet for the regatta, with substantial growth of the QLD fleet over the past 2 years; RQYS alone is now home to 17 Finns. Overall, Sail Brisbane is looking to exceed 200 entries.
Discounted early-bird entry is available before 21 November 2019. The regatta will serve as great preparation for late-December 2019 / January 2020 Nationals around the country. With 2 days of championship racing, daily give-aways, a welcome social and presentation function, the event is shaping up to be better than ever! Visit website here.
