TAS Regional Advisory Committee – Call for Nominations 2022/23

With the deregistration of Yachting TAS in 2020, the Australian Sailing board established a TAS Regional Advisory Committee to take its place. This Regional Advisory Committee is a committee of Australian Sailing and is elected by TAS clubs.

A call for nominations for Representatives is now open. Each Member Club is entitled to nominate one (1) person, who is a financial member of the Member Club. Nominations close on 15th June.

The committee can comprise a maximum of six elected and three appointed members. The committee members serve two year terms and currently comprises the following members:

  • Richard Bevan (Chair) 
  • Chris Symonds 
  • Greg Rowsell
  • Jill Abel
  • Clare Dabner
  • Danny Cunningham

The committee is calling for nominations for new members who are willing to contribute to the development of Sailing in TAS. The role of the committee is to help create a stronger sport, primarily by strengthening relationships between clubs and AS; both listening and understand clubs needs and communicating the role of AS and the services we provide.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Appoint the Delegate to represent the views of Member Clubs at AS General Meetings;
  • Contribute to the development of the AS strategic plan;
  • Provide local guidance and advise on state specific issues;
  • Assist with government and industry advocacy;
  • Engage with and provide feedback from clubs;
  • Assist with review of affiliation fee appeals;
  • Form a voting panel for state awards
