Successful Third Year of the Sail CQ Club Challenge
Published Mon 08 May 2023
Five regattas are held annually at five Clubs in Central Queensland creating a series that culminates in the Sail CQ Club Challenge. The top 6 boats get points, and the points accumulate over the 5 events in the series till the final regatta. Prizes (first, second and third places) are awarded at the final event to individuals and all individuals’ points accumulate for their home club to give the trophy to the winning club.
Our thanks and appreciation go out to all the sailors, volunteers, and staff for their huge efforts in coordinating these events.

229 competitors from 15 different clubs participated this year. Of those competitors, 19% participated in more than one of the events. 49% were under the age of 16 and 16% over the age of 55. It was fantastic to see the different classes attending these regattas and the amount of fun and community spirit had by all.
Keppel Bay Sailing Club achieved the win for the Most Successful Club Overall for the third year with Whitsunday Sailing Club coming in second. Congratulations to all the competitors for some great racing and for some there were very close results. Well done for another great series and we look forward to the 2023/24 series.
