Townsville Yacht Club is set to open entries for SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week (SMIRW) on  Monday 1st March, and we don’t want you to miss out.

Rather than a press release, we wanted to just let you know that we are all systems go for SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week 2021.  This year’s dates are Thursday 2nd September to Wednesday 8th September 2021 and we would love to see you.

 
As we continue to learn more about how to manage public events with restrictions in place, we look forward to ensuring our event is able to proceed in a COVID safe way working with Australian Sailing and Queensland Health.   We are incredibly fortunate to have Jodie Kennedy on board again this year, who has been part of hosting some very successful COVID safe events from August 2020 until now. 
 
For the 2021 event we are aiming to have 7 racing divisions over 5 days sailing the glorious waters of Cleveland Bay near Magnetic Island.  We would like to aim for 80 yachts to attend and given we were at 50% capacity a week after registrations opened last year, we think we can do it (with you of course). 
 
We have already had fantastic interest in the event, from both returning and new participants, all looking forward to the off-water fun as much as the racing.   In addition to our Father’s Day event at Picnic Bay we have some great things in the pipeline.
 
By registering online this will also secure you berth for the duration of the regatta at Maggie Island Marina.  We recommend you make enquiries to secure accommodation at the time of registration. Peppers Blue on Blue are our exclusive accommodation partner and are located adjacent to the marina.
 
So, mark your diary, put it on your calendar, or set a reminder on your phone, but whatever you do…don’t miss out!
