The Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania (RYCT) is proud of its achievements over almost 135 years of service to yachting and the community. In that time the RYCT has grown from a club established to support the needs of a group of dedicated sailors running yacht races on the River Derwent through to today, now servicing thousands of sailors and jointly managing, with the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, one of the world’s greatest blue water classics the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. But it’s not all about racing, with regular cruising and social events, junior sailing programs, training and education opportunities, plus excellent function facilities and a delicious Bistro menu.

The General Manager will:

  • Serve as the Public Officer, Company Secretary, Licensee, and Responsible Officer.
  • Oversee and ensure the successful day-to-day operations of the RYCT, covering Administration, Marina, Sailing, Hospitality, Asset Management, Finance, and Business Development.
  • Lead, develop, and implement modern human resource management structures and processes, including change management. Ensure a safe workplace for RYCT staff, members, and guests.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective commercial financial management and administrative systems.
  • Collaborate with and support the Board and its Committees. Proactively identify, contribute to, and manage the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of RYCT’s vision, strategic and operational plans, and projects.
  • Promote and represent RYCT activities, serving as the primary point of contact for RYCT members, sponsors, public stakeholders, government and statutory bodies, Australian Sailing, and other yacht clubs both locally and Internationally

Essential Requirements

  • National Police / Criminal History Check
  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • Drivers Licence
