- Queensland Discover Sailing Centre Forum
This Discover Sailing Forum is a fantastic networking opportunity for all who are involved in the delivery or support of the Discover Sailing Programs through an approved Discover Sailing Centre. Whether you are an instructor, an administrator, a co-ordinator or a principal, this is your chance to have discussions on relevant topics with like-minded people and to make sure that we are all engaged and connected to try to provide quality services for the sailing community.
There will be presentations delivered that will provide you with additional information, but mostly the forum will be about making connections and having discussions on things that matter to Discover Sailing Centres.
So please RSVP here and we look forward to seeing you on the night!

- SheSails Women in Sailing Leadership Workshop
As part of initiatives to increase female participation in all levels of sailing Australian Sailing is delivering its third annual Women in Sailing Leadership Workshop. Conducted by Dr Donna Little who has extensive practical and theoretical knowledge in female participation in sport at various levels as well and leadership within the sport and recreation industries the workshop focuses on what is happening around the sailing community now and what you can do yourself and within your sailing community to increase female participation. The simple message is that every little bit helps. From previous years, experience has indicated that through the connections made and the ideas shared during the workshop we have seen some great activities and programs that have produced real results.
Travel subsidy available for participants from regional Queensland.

- Queensland Youth Championships. Results.
The Queensland Youth State Championships have wrapped up for another year with plenty of young skippers sent home winners.
The coaches met, the boats were rigged, the wind filled in, the Race Committee headed by award winning National Race Officer Paul Effeney and judges finalised their plans and the volunteers were set to go. Welcome to the 2019 Queensland Youth Championships and Coaching Clinic!
Over 140 junior and youth sailors participated in 6 fantastic days of sailing fun at the Keppel Bay Sailing Club.

Action item for clubs: 2020 Dates are set for Monday 21st September to Wednesday 23rd September for the Coaching Clinic and Thursday 24th September to Saturday 26th September for the Queensland Youth Championships hosted at Keppel Bay Sailing Club, Yeppoon. Please put this in your calendar and promote to your junior and youth sailors and their parents. Next year is an Olympic year and we are already planning some very special guest appearances.
- Queensland Yachting Championships. Results.
The 2019 Queensland Yachting Championships, incorporating the Queensland IRC Championships, were held at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron on the 28th and 29th of September in winds ranging from Light Oscillating through to a powerful 20 to 25 knot Northerly; under the supervision of Principal Race Officer John Obrien.

I encourage club committees to table these at your club committee and/or sailing committee meetings and ensure your club is 1) aware of these topics, 2) taking advantage of or contributing from the information by taking steps within your club to continually improve your club activities and environment.
