Southport Yacht Club - Qoin Sail Paradise Race Week Trailer Released
Published Wed 28 Jul 2021
Southport Yacht Club is excited to release a short preview for their upcoming 2022 Qoin Sail Paradise Race Week.
The 3-minute trailer undoubtedly captures what an exciting event this premier sailing regatta has become for sailing in Australia as it enters its 13th year.
Leading sailing journalist, author and experienced sailor Rob Mundle opens the trailer explaining how Sail Paradise came to fruition. As the co-founder of the regatta, Rob has watched the race grow from a club event to the largest sailing event in South East Queensland.
COVID outbreaks have placed limitations on sailing throughout the past couple of years, and in some instances, major events on Australia’s sailing calendar have been cancelled. Sail Paradise 2022 will be a time to forget about lockdowns, forget about restrictions and enjoy all the Gold Coast has to offer while sailing in one of Australia’s most impressive offshore racing locations.
It’s not every day you get to share the ocean up close with dolphins, dugongs and whales. Kerry Noyes from Aramex offers a lasting impression when she explains her experience from last years regatta. ‘The scenery on the way down the coast and back is absolutely fabulous. The backdrop of Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach is incredible’. Kerry says how spectacular the sight is from the sea for the sailors and for the spectators on shore. It really is a unique situation to be looking from your boat at a growing city that sits on the shoreline in front of the mountains of the Gold Coast Hinterland a mere 20 minutes away.
This is not just a sailing regatta for skippers and crew. Southport Yacht Club intend for the event to be inclusive of the whole family. The Gold Coast offers a colourful summertime vibe where the city comes to life during the day and night. Dedicated staff will connect with skippers to create a week of fun, whether it be onshore events at the club or a visit to Seaworld, Dreamworld or Warner Bros. Movie World.
Aligned with the vibrant summer feel of the Gold Coast, the club will feature various musicians throughout the week, a special lunch date devoted to the ladies, beach parties and daily celebrations after presentations. It’s a week of sailing, competition, sportsmanship, friendship and family fun.
In its short 13 year history, Rob Mundle is excited for the future of Southport Yacht Club’s Sail Paradise Regatta. “I think in the years to come, you’ll see more and more sailors come from interstate and from further up the coast in Queensland to this regatta”. Rob confirms the regattas “reputation is building and building and going from strength to strength and people are now seeing what we have to offer, and really, it’s unique in Australia”.
