Powerboat Senior Instructor Course
Published Tue 16 Apr 2019
Several states were represented on the National Powerboat Senior Instructor course at the WA head office in Perth held recently.
As Chief Powerboat Instructor I was very pleased to see a diverse range of participants with a sharing of knowledge from young to old and old to young.
The venue next to Royal Perth Yacht Club had a great meeting room and was perfect for the theory presentations and thanks to Jenn for all the organisational behind the scenes action to make it all work, plus the albeit oversize “props” for showing marks etc., were well appreciated.
During the 3 day course we literally threw the participants in the deep end which included conscious and unconscious recovery, all different ways of towing, capsize recovery, entrapment and the usual topics for the Powerboat syllabus.
Thanks to Nicholas Neale for being our forced volunteer acting as an unconscious victim. He didn’t complain nearly as much as we thought he would.
A lot of knowledge was passed between everyone and in good spirits.
The Senior Instructors can pass on this knowledge by the teach the teachers system to spread throughout the country.
