Port Dalrymple Yacht Club leading the way
Published Mon 08 Apr 2019
The PDYC has been picking which way to go as they get new Assistant Instructors trained up and deliver a terrific Tackers programme.
And the Wynyard Yacht Club is right there with them! Both clubs combined to put together a group of 8 sailors who attained their Assistant Instructor accreditation at a course run at the PDYC on 31 March.
Mike Darby played a great role as the Senior Instructor showing and importantly inspiring these new instructors in how to go about their job. The PDYC’s Principal Greg Rowsell was largely responsible for planning the day and bringing the WYC on board. Greg also worked closely with Mike, assisting with presenting some of the program for the day.
Other highlights of the Tackers program for the season at the PDYC were 55 registered participants for the courses, and acquisition of five new Opti trainer boats thanks to the five generous sponsorships from Mr Peter Kearney, Mr DI “Robbie” Roberts, DW Booth Charitable Trust, Shaw Contracting and McKillop Insurance Brokers.
The PDYC is proving to be a lead club in building their own capacity and as a result of that improvement, growing sailing.
