Following on from Australian Para Sailing Championships held in conjunction with Sail Melbourne in January, there a number of important Australian Para Sailing events coming up.

After a number of State Championships are held during February, the Australian Hansa Class Championships will be held at Canberra Yacht Club over Easter from Friday 10 to Monday 13 April.

A free coaching program will be held ahead of the Championships on the Thursday and Friday April 9 & 10. Led by Australian Para Sailing Coach Mike Darby, the program will commence at 1pm on the Thursday and continue with morning and afternoon sessions on the Friday and daily briefings and on-water support during racing. Australian Sailing’s Para Sailing Coordinator David Staley will hold a Para Sailing information session open to everyone on the Thursday at 5pm.

Over the Labour Day Weekend, Sailability Crystal Bay is organising the Pittwater Inclusive Classes Regatta on June 6 & 7.  For more information email ajo94109@bigpond.net.au.

Southport Yacht Club and the Queensland Para Sailing Academy will be conducting the Southport Para Winter Regatta from August 7, 8 & 9 this year and hopefully this will become a regular part of the Australian Para Sailing calendar. This year’s event will be held in conjunction with the 2020 SKUD 18 Australian Championships and the Queensland Hansa Class Championships (for the 2.3, 303, Liberty & SKUD 18 classes). It was sad to hear that the 2020 Hansa Class World and International Championships scheduled for October at the Los Angeles Yacht Club has been cancelled. See https://hansaclass.org/2020/02/09/hansa-worlds-2020-cancelled/. This event was to be held in conjunction with Para World Sailing Championships in the Hansa 303 and Liberty. There is a possibility that the Para Worlds in the 303 may be rescheduled to another venue, but this is yet to be confirmed.
