OutThere Sailing takes on 2020!

Published Fri 10 Jan 2020

Following on from a fantastic first season half of the season, OutThere Sailing is still going strong in the New Year!

OutThere Sailing has been created for 12-17 year olds who want to sail but without competition and emphasis on having fun and spending time in nature with their mates. With clubs running the program all around Australia, the OutThere Sailing Program provides endless opportunities for teenagers to be active and get outdoors. Clubs have found that an effective way to run the program is to provide a variety of activities such as, sailing, windsurfing, paddle boarding, powerboating and even using keelboat – to keep it varied and interesting for participants and instructors.

Clubs around Australia are given free reign when it comes to how they want to run their OutThere sailing program. Some clubs were able to grab the ‘low-hanging fruit’ and convert their current High School sailing activities or ‘Sail & Play’ activities to the OutThere Sailing Program. Others took advantage of the summer holidays and ran weekly sessions to keep teenagers busy. As the OutThere Sailing Program is still quite new, some centres decided to host an Experience on a late afternoon to assess the viability and success in order to plan for more options in 2020. Many clubs have reported that this is a fantastic way to encourage new people to check out sailing as well as keep current sailors who are no longer interested in competing but love the sport, in the club.

OutThere Sailing provides endless options and opportunity for participants and clubs alike. We cant wait to take on 2020 and get even more teenagers OutThere!
