To commemorate National Volunteer Week 2020 we would like to showcase one of our amazing OutThere Sailing volunteers.

Introducing Linus Chow, one of the fantastic volunteers at Townsville Sailing Club. Linus began volunteering at TSC when Senior Instructor, Diane Kelsey mentioned she could use an extra set of hands to help out around the club, and Linus who had been a dedicated club member before that, has been involved ever since.

In the past year, Linus has gone from general helping around the club to being heavily involved with the Pimlico School Sailing and TSC’s weekend OutThere Sailing program. Reflecting on his past year as a volunteer, Linus has said “It gives me satisfaction seeing the club grow and seeing so many boats out on the water” and we could not agree more.

Townsville Sailing Club has gone from strength to strength this past year, and a lot of that success has to do with its heavy volunteer involvement. Many volunteers share the same sentiment as Linus, who stated that volunteering “Is something meaningful to do with your time, helping people get into sailing and possibly sparking their passion”
