Australian Sailing is soon to launch its new learn to wing program, aimed at introducing beginners to the wing and developing the fundamental skills needed to latter progress to the WingFOIL with confidence. 

The program will be available through the network of accredited Discover Sailing Centres and delivered by Instructors who have completed the learn to wing Instructor endorsement. Instructors will be provided with access to a range of resources which have been developed to assist with the delivery of the program. 

The learn to wing instructor endorsement will also launch in 2023. The format of the instructor endorsement will be a simple online course and can be undertaken by any current instructor in either the dinghy or windsurfing programs, it will be free to complete and will take approximately 1-2 hours, at the learner’s own pace.

Suitable equipment for Discover Sailing Centres to deliver the program, is available now, through the recently announced partnership with North Action Group. We would encourage all clubs and Discover Sailing Centres looking to grow foiling at their club to make use of this fantastic offer which provides equipment at 55% off retail prices.

Many Discover Sailing Centres who are looking to deliver the new learn to wing program, already have stable windsurf boards or SUPs which can be utilised for this program, meaning all that would be required is the purchase of suitable wings.

The learn to wing program will consist of a learn to wing experience which will be a 4 hour session, as well as the full learn to wing course which is delivered across 8 hours. 

No previous sailing experience is necessary for participants to try ‘winging’, which will greatly assist with attracting new club members looking to get involved with this fast growing discipline and encourage more growth at clubs across the country.
