Navigating Australian Sailing's New Online World

Published Wed 04 Jul 2018

After months of work - concepts, briefings, designs, re-designs and reviews - Australian Sailing’s online platform for the future is ready for lift-off.

The new websites, we believe, provide relevant and up-to-date news, information and resources in a modern and user-friendly manner that does justice to our sport.

The major objective has been the creation of better-tailored sites, with four main destinations:

 Australian Sailing website

The Australian Sailing site remains the online entry point for the sailing community and general public. It features the latest news from around the domestic scene, upcoming events and social media feeds, as well as links to a variety of sub-sites that cater for all levels of sailing.

Resources Centre and Discover Sailing

One sub-site is the new Resources centre, which offers an abundance of information dedicated specifically to sailors and clubs. Want to find an instructor or coach? Find a course? Check your Australian Sailing number? It’s all in the portal and easy to find.

A new-look Discover Sailing gateway serves as a clean and crisp welcome point for people considering becoming involved in sailing or those looking to expand their knowledge and experience of the sport.

Australian Sailing Team website

Our national team landing place has received an upgrade worthy of our world class high performance system. The new Australian Sailing Team site will be our online hub through to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and beyond. The design and content pay homage to our culture of hard work, ingenuity and success, while also celebrating and respecting our history.

The latest news relating to our Team and Squad sailors takes centre stage. A new events section offers event site links and maps, and our booming social media feeds feature prominently. The new Barranjoey Pin program, honouring those who have reached Australian Sailing Team standard or equivalent, is presented with the dignity it deserves, as is our link page to the Australian Sailing Hall of Fame website.

Australian Sailing Youth website

Finally, our youth sailors now have the website they deserve. The Australian Sailing Youth site is an inviting destination for young people at all levels, from our under-age national teams down, and incorporates youth sailing programs, pathway information and regattas nationwide.

----------------------------------

By following a mantra of separating general information from targeted information, clutter has been eliminated across the revamped sites and the material you require at any stage of your sailing experience is much more readily at hand.

Whether you’re a child starting your sailing journey, an elite competitor representing Australia, or anything in between, we hope you find Australian Sailing’s online platform for the future to be everything you need to help you get the most from the sport we all love.
