Members are your clubs biggest Sponsors!
Published Wed 08 Apr 2020
When it comes time for you to receive your membership renewal to your local yacht club, what reaction are you going to have, because it’s all a matter of perspective:
What am I getting for my money right now – they aren’t even open – why should I pay my membership?
Or
I’ll just wait and see what happens and I’ll re-join when they open back up
Or
I value my club and the community it represents and the benefits to me personally are more than just the ability to use the facilities– what else can I do to help keep it safe so when we can go sailing again my club is still there?
In these difficult times where many people have lost their jobs, membership of your yacht or sailing club will most likely not be on the priority list for payment.
It is times like these that those of us who can renew or join their local club should.. Not only just to pay your membership fees, but consider making your family members as well, and see what else you may be able to do to assist the club and the club’s committee. If you can help your club, now is the time! Membership is your Club’s biggest form of sponsorship and might just make the difference for your club to survive this crisis situation
Here’s a few benefits to club membership that go beyond the ability to use the facilities or go for a sail:
- It’s a chance to build your skillset
- It can lead to great friendships and new networking opportunities
- It can build your self confidence
- Inclusivity, pride and belonging
- Encourage an active lifestyle
- Build respect and tolerance
- Achieve aspirations
- Encourage the right behaviour
- Develops Role Models
- A chance to have an impact in your local community
- Leadership Opportunities
- Allows greater work life balance
- And it’s fun!
Stay safe, stay inside and stay well!
