Marketing with Australian Sailing: Tackers and OutThere Sailing
Published Thu 13 Oct 2022
Australian Sailing has created a host of marketing resources to assist clubs in promoting Tackers or OutThere Sailing programs. Read on to find out what is available and how to utilise them this Spring/Summer season.
Tackers
Tackers is a key participation program for Australian Sailing that ensures clubs are able to grow through the engagement of children and their families.
Designed to be a fun introductory, games-based sailing program for kids aged 7-12 years-old; the Tackers program offers children the opportunity to start on a pathway to ongoing involvement in clubs through gradually progressing over several seasons.
The branding and presentation of Tackers is important. A range of resources including banners, flyers, brochures, posters etc have been designed specifically for the program. Access to these resources reduces reliance on volunteer time and gives clubs all the course material they need to make the program a success. With a host of Tackers Marketing Resources on offer, we encourage your club to review what is available here.

It is worth making special mention of the NEW Tackers promotional video featured below which is available for clubs to download and use across their socials, website and in venue screens. Australian Sailing used this video in a small Facebook paid advertising campaign earlier this year which resulted in 400 link clicks to the Discover Sailing website Tackers page! We encourage your club to use the power of video to showcase the program and link it back to the Tackers course page on your website.
Contact your local Club Support Officer and they will send you the relevant resources to successfully market your Tackers Program. Only accredited Discover Sailing Centres who are current Tackers Centres will be provided access to these resources.
OutThere Sailing
OutThere Sailing (OTS) has been created for 12–17-year-olds who want to try sailing in a non-competitive, social and fun setting. Running the OTS program at your Centre provides a social environment where teenagers can cultivate real friendships with others from their local area, whilst potentially igniting a love for sailing in the process. Having a program that encourages socialisation, adventure and getting out amongst nature is a way to positively influence club culture.
Australian Sailing has developed several resources to assist your club in promoting the OutThere Sailing program. These resources, listed below, are available here.
- A3 and A4 posters
- Social post and website artworks
- Promotional video (below) that can be embedded on club websites or downloaded and shared via your club’s social media.
