King of the Gulf regatta
Published Fri 29 Nov 2019
The 6th edition of the very popular “King of the Gulf” regatta is scheduled for Friday 14th through to Tuesday 18th February 2020. The regatta invites all monohull and multihulls in both racing and cruising divisions.
This year the “King of the Gulf” regatta will also host the 2020 State and National Multihull Championships with yachts expected from Queensland, NSW, Victoria and South Australia.
The regatta is raced in the fantastic, flat sailing waters of Port Vincent with an across the gulf passage race from Adelaide to Port Vincent on the Friday (14th) and a return race from Port Vincent to Adelaide on the Tuesday (18th). The regatta has the reputation of being inclusive and friendly with a strong and affordable social programme.
Last year, in an exciting initiative a large number of yachts cruised over to Port Lincoln and the Sir Joseph Banks Group after the regatta. This year this optional cruise in company will allow yachts to view the Adelaide Lincoln race from the sea and the Lincoln week regatta.
Of special interest will be the participation of the new 43 foot Grainger carbon trimaran speedster Venom which has just been completed in Queensland and will be home to compete in both the “King of the Gulf” regatta and then the Adelaide Lincoln race.
