Whitsunday Sailing Club reactivated their junior program from Tackers 1 to Green Fleet in January this year.  Here’s a glimpse of the end result of a community who wants to raise a sailor.  Thank you to Tammie Scharf for letting us share this story. 

“We're thrilled to share the incredible journey of our 7 Whitsunday Sailing Club Green Fleet sailors who embarked on their first camp and regatta in the picturesque Yeppoon.  

For three days, these young sailors received expert coaching, honing their skills, and then put them to the test during a three-day regatta.  

But that's not all! Thanks to the generous fundraising efforts of our sailors, families, club members, Heather, Kate, and the Bosuns Club during Airlie Race Week, our Tackers boats are now equipped with brand-new sails from PSA! We thank Craig from PSA for all of his support and ensuring our sails arrived in Yeppoon for the regatta.  

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Kate, who not only towed the Tackers trailer to Yeppoon but also proved to be a true hero during the regatta by building a new rudder, assisting with any boat issues that cropped up and applying numbers to all of the new sails.  

Thank you to the Kruger family, Will and Karen who also supported the club by towing coach boats to and from the regatta. This was only made possible by the support we received from Kate, Camille, Jimmy, Terry, Robin, Alan and Clayton who assisted with the trailers.  

A BIG shoutout to our incredible families and sailors who made this week truly remarkable! Your unwavering support and enthusiasm have been the driving force behind this fantastic journey. Your dedication, passion, and teamwork have made this experience unforgettable.
