SeaLink, Townsville Yacht Club, and the SMIRW Committee are excited to announce that we are “Good to Go” for SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week 2020 – 27 August to 2 September. 
 
Despite the Pandemic we are on track for another successful event with 67 yachts currently registered.  

We are beyond excited at how keen everyone is to come and join us this year.  On the back of a sell out year in 2019, yachties were keen to get in early and not miss out on registering for the 2020 event. 
 
We have worked through our approved COVID Safe plan and are endeavouring to ensure this years Regatta will meet all the government requirements.

Contact Tracing must occur for each person on board, we will send through information on how to register yourself and your crew closer to the event. 

We have The event team is currently looking at a range of options about what the event may look like for this year, ensuring our event is safe for all attending and attempting to maintain the overall concept of what the event is all about.
 
“We love seeing so many people come from all over Australia as well as our locals to enjoy Maggie Island in all it’s glory, while sailing the stunning waters of Cleveland Bay.  It is important to us that we follow the directions of the health authorities during our planning phases and throughout the event” Event Committee member Tony Muller said.
 
Entertainment this year would be about bringing the party to the people and we are determined to still create a great atmosphere.
 
We look forward to holding SMIRW from 27 August to 2 September 2020 with the support of our major partners – Tourism and Events Queensland, Townsville City Council, SeaLink, Peppers Blue on Blue and MI Marina.
