I'm bored. Are we there yet?
Published Wed 10 Jul 2019
Parents, are you over the ‘I’m bored’, ‘there’s nothing to do’ and the dreaded ‘are we there yet’ already experienced these school holidays? Quit their grumbles and get them out of the house.
You get to enjoy the view from the warm club lounge as your treasures swing rudders, hoist sails and burn off all that built-up holiday energy in a fun and safe school holidays sailing program.
The available programs at your local club include day activities and courses for the parents, adults and the young at heart. Whereas the kids can enjoy a full week-long sailing program to teach them all about sails and boat handling, rules and sportsmanship both on and off the water.
Tackers is a mass participation program aimed at introducing children aged 7 to 12 to sailing in a fun, safe, accessible and affordable way. It is a key participation program for Australian Sailing to ensure clubs are able to grow through engagement of children and their families.
Nurturing youngsters into our sport is important because developing interests in any sport early increases the likelihood that they will continue to participate. All the major metropolitan clubs and most of the regional clubs are hosting a program or two, so jump on their website or visit www.sailing.org.au to have a look.
See you on the water these school holidays.
