Hot Throttle

Published Wed 05 Sep 2018

Forty-two boats enjoyed the break in the bleak winter weather of the past few weeks to compete in State Heat 4 of the Cruising and Power Yacht Committee, 2018 State Championships last weekend. Just over midway through the season the fleets have been consistent even when the weather has not.

With the final heat next fortnight, the leader board is even closer after last weekends three-way tie for least points. Guy Skinner and Richard Evans continue they’re form and mastery over both sail and throttle aboard Thanet; Troy Dalglish and Dee Kelly are anything but, aboard Dalusional; whilst Paul and Mairead Hodgson are counting their credits aboard their Liquid Asset 2.

Very different boat styles and speeds ranging from 6 to 12 knots, goes to prove any boat and crew can compete and even win during these time trial events.

Who will reign supreme in the 43rd State Championship and Combined Teams Events for 2018 in this the 115th year of organised Power Yacht Events on the Swan River, only the throttle of time will tell. Visit www.sportspage.com.au for full results.
