Hawaiian Crew in Rockingham
Published Thu 24 Oct 2019
Where can you sail in WA that all the volunteers and race team make you feel like your sailing in the island of Hawaii? Rockingham of course, for the 2019 Cockburn Sound Regatta at The Cruising Yacht Club of WA. Bright, vibrant and certainly not to be missed are the Hawaiian style uniforms of race officials and volunteers, the only question is which colour scheme they have chosen for this year’s event.
Held between Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve every year on the waters of Mangles Bay off Rockingham, the 62nd iteration of this event has plenty to see and do, both on and off the water.
Visitors and spectators can stroll amongst the new onshore developments while soaking in the atmosphere and watching some spectacular racing.
A regatta designed with inclusion in mind, competitors are split over several divisions including a multihull fleet. Racing is a mixture of Around the Buoys, Windward/ Leeward and Passage races to make the most of the conditions and Cockburn Sound waters.
Will Soon return to defend their title or will SoPYC Hell Fire rain on their parade?
Places are filling fast with limited moorings available so visit tcyc.com.au for all the details. See in the New Year at the CSR.
