Half a Valmadre

Published Tue 14 Jul 2020

he Fremantle Sailing Club’s revised and combined Inshore and Offshore Winter Series. Halfway through the condensed weekly battle on the ocean off Fremantle, the Offshore fleet have completed the Arlene and Ensign Race with mixed results. Not to mention some epic close calls and tales at the bar from rusty sailors and their skills.

Arlene Race in late June saw ‘Checkmate’, ‘Joss’ and ‘Giddy Up’ fill the podium in Division 1 IRC, with a reverse of minor standing in PHS Division. ‘Crush’, ‘Atomic Blonde’ and ‘Hustler’ took out Division 2 IRC with ‘Adams Rib’ and ‘Corniche’ taking home PHS trophies in front of ‘Crush’ in third.

Last weekend, ‘Obsession’, ‘Giddy Up’ and ‘Checkmate’ fought off a charge from ‘Joss’ and ‘Endorfin’ in the IRC stakes. Whilst ‘Obsession’ remained victorious in PHS followed by ‘Endorfin’ and ‘Giddy Up’. In Division 2 ‘Atomic Blonde’, ‘Crush’ and ‘This Way Up’ shared the podium in both IRC and PHS handicaps.

With two races to go over the next few weeks, all is still up for grabs. Looking for a berth or some afternoon sun to wash away the winter and COVID blues, then head to fsc.com.au to register today.
