Griffith Sailing Cub

Published Tue 06 Apr 2021

Craig finally got the opportunity to physically visit Griffith Sailing Club, below is his article on it.

Griffith sailing Club situated on Lake Wyangan has a beautiful setting with lush green rigging areas and easy access to the water.

When it comes to water, the area has been significantly affected by drought and missed out on much of the recent rain the eastern part of the state received recently. Therefore the water is low to some 1-1.5m below the usual level. Which has restricted the sailing activities of the club.

The local council is working on trying to lift the levels within the lake, but this takes a long time to implement.

While the level of the water is low they are undertaking the task of refurbishing the sea wall in front of the club, but this is now pressing as they are expecting water levels to rise soon.

Meeting up with Tom, President of the club, and David, they have an enthusiastic approach to grow membership of the club.

The club is well established with a friendly family atmosphere.

All types of monohulls and catamaran’s are sailed in this picturesque part of the lake.

I would recommend any sailors that get the opportunity to visit the area to put a visit to the club on the agenda.
