The November updates from Australian Sailing's General Manager – TAS, Chris Jones 

Position Vacancy – General Manager TAS 

I will soon be moving on from Australian Sailing as the General Manager TAS. Thank you to everyone in the wider sailing community for your commitment and endeavour to see the sport grow and get more on the water. My last day with Australian Sailing will Friday 18th November. AS have begun the recruitment process and are seeking applications for the position, applications close 24th November.

Australian Sailing Board Appointments  

Australian Sailing has announced that Alistair Murray AM will be its new President, and Shevaun Bruland the new Vice President after their election at the 2022 Annual General Meeting. Congratulations to Tasmanian local Heather McCallum who was newly elected filling the vacancy of the outgoing President Daniel Belcher.

Australian Sailing Awards 

Winners of the 2022 Australian Sailing Awards will be announced Friday 4th November in Sydney. The evening is a celebration of the clubs, volunteers, and sailors with outstanding achievements. Tasmania has a strong representation at this year’s national awards with finalists in four award categories.  

  • Male Sailor of the Year – Chris Symonds, WYC 

  • Para Sailors of the Year – Chris Symonds, WYC 

  • Offshore Sailor of the Years – Rob Gough & John Saul, RYCT, SBSC, DSS 

  • Volunteer of the Year – Jenny Potter, SBSC

October Grant Alert 

Tasmanian Government provides a grants update for time to time so the community are aware of which grants are currently open. The Sport & Recreation Equipment Grant is now taking applications until 16th December.
