Following a 3-year hiatus, the Instructor Conference made a strong return with over 25 instructors from Tasmanian Discover Sailing Centres. Despite the cold, the event provided an excellent opportunity for instructors to develop their skills on and off the water.

Action Item/s for Club:

Club Participation Programs

Australian Sailing is proud to release its long-awaited Club Participation Programs, giving clubs and class associations a valuable resource on how to deliver sailing programs and keep members engaged with the sport.

There resources enable clubs, classes and the coach workforce to deliver programs, the Blueprints and Profiles in the guide provide structure and practical view into each program purpose, to the sailor and their development as well as the coach delivering the programs.

Action Item/s for Club:

National Integrity Framework & Child Safeguarding

The National Integrity Framework (NIF) provides a streamlined approach to mitigating threats to integrity in sailing and is designed to ease the administrative burden on affiliated clubs and class associations and Discover Sailing Centres.

The NIF includes the Child Safeguarding Policy as part of the proactive and preventive approach to upholding Australian Sailing’s commitment to the safety and wellbeing of all children. In Tasmania, anyone 16 or over must register to work with children if they would be expected to have more than incidental contact with children as a normal part of their duties. This requirement applies equally to volunteers and paid staff.

Action Item/s for Club:

  • Review the safety and wellbeing of children in your club.

  • Ensure your volunteers and staff are registered in your club’s CBOS Employer Portal
