General Manager - Tasmania Monthly Update November 2023
Published Mon 13 Nov 2023
With the Sailing Season now in full swing, we are all busy with implementing programs, running races and generally living sailing. This is the perfect time to get in contact with Australian Sailing to see how we can support you. I have been sharing events and courses on the Australian Sailing Tasmania Facebook page and encourage you to follow our page to see what is happening. Please tag us in your posts so that we can help promote your club, class and event.
At the recent Australian Sailing Awards, held at the Maritime Museum in Sydney, Tasmania was very proud to be well represented. Sandy Bay Sailing Club was a finalist for Club of the Year Category B, Derwent Sailing Squadron for Media and Promotion, Chris Symonds for Para Sailor of the Year and Will Sargent a finalist for Male Sailor of the Year. Thank you to all the people who travelled interstate and helped celebrate sailing in Australia. Special mention and congratulations must go to Chris Symonds of Wynyard Yacht Club, who won Para Sailor of the Year and was then presented with the President’s Award. The President’s Award is to acknowledge the exceptional contribution to the sailing community that an individual has made, and Chris is definitely someone who has been an active, supportive and influential member of the sailing community.
Further news about the AS Awards can be found on the following sites.
It’s Discover Sailing Month at Australian Sailing, however, we all know that the weather takes a while to settle and warm up in Tassie, so if you want to have your DS Day in another month we are more than happy to help you organise and promote it. Please contact us if you have any questions.
