Our TAS Sailing Summit on May 18th was an enormous success with nearly all our Clubs and many Classes represented. It was a day full of discussion and information, while providing the opportunity for people to engage and network with other sailing clubs. The Derwent Sailing Squadron provided the perfect venue for the event with delicious catering that was enjoyed by all. Thank you must also go to Faye Read, Toby Legg, Mick Hawes and Shaun Tiedemann, for presenting on the day and, if you were unable to attend, their presentations can be viewed - HERE
At the Sailing Summit there was a presentation regarding the changes in the Child and Youth Safe Organisation Framework. Included in this update is a link to Australian Sailing’s Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy that all AS Affiliated Clubs are to comply with. Please ensure that you refer to this and add the new Tasmanian regulations to your policy.
Our next AS event is the Sailing Awards to be held on Saturday 7th September at the Maritime Museum of Tasmania. We have the whole venue for the evening, so it will be a wonderful place to hold our awards totally emerged in Tasmanian Maritime history. Nominations are now open, and it is time to celebrate sailing in Tasmania. Nominations close on August 12th, so please take the time to share this with your committee and discuss who you should nominate.
