Official’s Networking – Sunday May 19th at Derwent Sailing Squadron 9am -12noon – Registration – Officials Networking
Australian Sailing TAS is excited to be offering an Official’s Networking event. This is the day following the Sailing Summit to allow people who are travelling from the north of the state to have the opportunity to stay on and be part of the event.
If you are interested in building connections with other Officials and attending a morning of discussion, networking and sharing of information, then this is the perfect event for you. You may also know of someone else who is interested in one of the Official roles that you may like to invite along.
AS utilises the following Officiating disciplines:
Judge - Handles racing protests and appeals.
Measurer - Checks if competitors boats and equipment are rules compliant.
Race Officer - Conduct racing by laying racing courses, providing start and finish lines, and scoring competition.
Umpire - Provides on-water judging of Teams and Match Racing where rules infringements between boats incur instantaneous penalties.
Equipment Auditor - Checks that a boat possesses the correct and current safety equipment necessary to complete racing for either Categories 3-7 or Categories 1-7.
Racing only happens because of people who are involved in these roles, and we appreciate all the time, experience and effort that is required to gain these qualifications. Morning Tea will be provided

Foil- Lab TAS – Does your club want to have a Foil-Lab?
With the ever-increasing explosion of foiling into the sailing community Australian Sailing is working to develop programs and resources to support coaches, sailors, and clubs to get involved in this new and exciting space. The first step on the foiling journey for any sailor, windsurfer, wingsurfer or kiteboarder who wants to experience foiling is to participate in a Foil-Lab, delivered at a club, by an accredited Foil-Lab Coach. If you would like more information about holding a Foil-Lab, please contact us.
CLUB ACTION: Share with Committee and organise a Foil-Lab with AS!
Game Plan for Clubs
Game Plan is a self-assessment tool for clubs and class associations to review all aspects of your organisation and provide an improvement plan with links to resources and templates.
Game Plan is provided in partnership with the Australian Sports Commission. It is neatly set out in areas so that one person doesn’t have to complete the whole program. Start today: https://www.sailingresources.org.au/clubresources/governance/
