  1. 2021 Australian Sailing Queensland Club Conference – copy of presentations.

The 2021 Sunliner Boats Queensland Club Conference was held on the weekend of the 24th & 25th July at the Brisbane Sailing Squadron. The conference attracted club 65 committee members, staff and volunteers from 23 Queensland Clubs spread from across the State.

The conversation and contribution from all who attended made for some great discussions and in same cases debate. This led to a greater understanding of the topics covered and the issues and success stories from all involved.

Please find a copy of the presentations by clicking here.

If you have any questions or require more information, please contact Ben Callard on ben.callard@sailing.org.au

Action item for clubs:

  • Please share this information with your committee members.

  1. A review on your Child Safety policies and practices is required.

Last month I highlighted that legislation in Queensland had changed around the requirements to report child sexual offences. This triggers a requirement for your club and class association to conduct a review and update your child safety policies and even more importantly your practices around your club and activities.

Australian Sailing has provided many links to information and useful resources on this topic over many months. Please find a list of easy to access links to some of these resources.

Child safety is everyone’s responsibility. What are you and your club doing to ensure children are safe while at your club and participating in your activities.

  • Promote your clubs policies and procedures to your members and have the documents easily accessible on your clubs website.

  1. Youth Sail QLD

2021 Youth Sail Qld is already shaping up to be a big event. Over 70 entries have already been received and a massive line up of 20 coaches and two Olympians are going to be on hand to provide expert tips, tricks and inspiration to the junior and youth sailors of Queensland.

Green fleet is currently the biggest division which is a great sign for the future. Excitingly we are starting to see more of the foiling classes get involved with registrations from the Nacra 15, Kite Foiling and IQ Foil (Foiling Windsurfer) class already amongst the entries.

This is a great opportunity. One not to be missed.

Please visit the website for all the information and to register – Click here.

Action item for clubs:

  • Please promote and encourage your junior and youth sailors (under 23 years old) to attend.

  1. Queensland Yachting Championships & Queensland Trailable State Championships

The Queensland Yachting Championships and Queensland Trailable State Championships are now open for registration. Scheduled to take place at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron on the 6-7 November.

This is a great event and one that we would like to see grow in its participation numbers and status amongst the Queensland sailing community. If you have any feedback or ideas on how to improve these events please send your thoughts through to me via ben.callard@sailing.org.au.

In the meantime, please check out the Notice of Race and register to participate – Click Here.
