Creating Safer Sporting Environments for Children

The Office of Sport will host a number of webinars over the next months which will outline how to create safer sporting environments for children and young people.

The first program is a free 90-minute Child Safe Sport webinar featuring practical ways to be more child safe for boards, committees, leaders, administrators and volunteers.

The webinar will also introduce a range of resources, tools and templates that will assist volunteers to safeguard children involved in sport, including an overview of the new Child Safe Standards.

The second training program is targeted at Member Protection Information Officers (MPIO). MPIOs play a vital role in protecting the rights and welfare of club members as the 'go to' person to raise issues, concerns and complaints.

The webinar involves two free components:

Play by the Rules online MPIO module hosted on the Sport Integrity Australia e-learning hub

Office of Sport webinar session - a two-hour practical session.

SheSails

The inaugural SheSails National Leadership Conference  was a great success, with the largest SheSails gathering to date (albeit virtually) seeing close to 200 participants dialling in from sailing clubs across Australia. To watch the recording go here

In NSW and ACT we have a wonderful network of SheSails Representatives from our clubs that meet to network and work together to promote women in our sport. If you have a club or board member championing this at your club, we would love them to be part of the group! Contact Gemma for more information, or complete the SheSails Rep application form here

Lifejackets

lifejackets.org.au is the go-to website for sailors, providing a single-source of reliable information on inflatable lifejackets.

It offers access to several resources and tools including a lifejacket selector tool, educational videos on conducting pre-wear checks and inspections, a retailer and service centre store locator, as well as the ability to register to receive maintenance tips and service reminders via email.
