NSW Award Winners

Congratulations to the NSW Sailors who won awards this year!

Tom Slingsby OAM wins World Sailing Sailor for the Year for the third time – See more details here

Damien Boldyrew wins Official of the Year – See more details of the national Awards here 

Iain Murray AM and Tom Slingsby OAM inducted into the Sailing Hall of Fame – See more details here

John Forbes – Inducted into the NSW Hall of Champions

John made history when he became the first Tornado catamaran sailor ever to win three World Championships. He went on to better that by completing his career with a total of seven catamaran World Championship wins.

Four-time Australian Sailor of the Year, and a veteran of three Olympic Games, Forbes won a bronze at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games with Mitch Booth. In 2000, they won silver at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. Forbes won four European Championships, and 10 Australian Championships.

 


Participation Programs

Participation Programs are key to facilitating and growing membership, as they focus on retaining and developing sailors, coaches, and volunteers, and are designed with flexibility in mind, allowing clubs and class associations to adapt to how people choose to participate.

The NSW Government has released a volunteer charter and online portal to connect your club with volunteers.

Child Safeguarding – Resources for Clubs

The Office of the Children have a range of videos, posters and other resources to help clubs.

Upcoming Courses

Instructor Courses

We schedule dinghy, keelboat, windsurfing, powerboat instructor and sailing coach courses throughout the year. Find a course here - Course Finder

We are in the process of creating the course schedule for 2024, if your club is a Discover Sailing Centre and you’d be happy to host an instructor course, please email Jess.tames@sailing.org.au

 


NSW/ACT Event Calendar

We ask all NSW/ACT Clubs to add your major events to the calendar, it helps sailors find your events and other clubs and Australian Sailing plan their events. The calendar can be found here

Updating Club Contacts

Not Receiving Official AS Communications? 

When Flag Officers change roles your club account details need to be updated, without key contact details, Australian Sailing cannot contact the right people.
