Measurer's Course
22-23 January 2022 at Georges River Sailing Club
Measurer's play an important role in keeping sailing fair and safe. You can help your class by learning to measurer Sails, Spars and hulls.

Grants
NSW Office of Sports Grassroots Support Fund
A grant of up to $1000 for eligible clubs and classes administered by Australian Sailing.
A short survey will be sent out, when I get it from the Office of Sport, which will be used to collect more information and confirm the clubs and classes that wish to access this fund.

The money will be paid to clubs in early February.
Multi-Sport Community Facility Fund
Applications close - 1pm, Friday 25 February 2022
The primary objectives of the Fund are to:
Increase the number and type of multi-sport facilities
Improve the standard of existing multi-sport facilities
Increase the utilisation of sport facilities
Support the equitable provision of, and access to multi-sport facilities to grow sport participation for women and girls
Provide inclusive and accessible multi-sport facilities that support sport participation for people with disability, First Nations peoples and people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
NSW Boating Now Program
Up to $28 million is available under Round 4 of the Program, which is open to local government, NSW Government agencies, community groups and the private sector. The Program will continue to support projects to improve boating access, amenity and safety such as boat ramps, pontoons, jetties, sewage pump-outs, vessel storage and minor dredging required to access boating infrastructure.
The Round 4 application process will be delivered in two stages to better support applicants earlier in the process.
Stage One - The first stage is a call for Registrations of Interest (ROI), where applicants are invited to submit initial proposals for project(s) by 28 February 2022. During this first stage, the Maritime Infrastructure Delivery Office will review ROI forms and provide feedback to help applicants develop and refine their proposals.
Stage Two - In March 2022, applicants who submitted ROI forms will be invited to submit formal funding applications as part of the second stage. Opening and closing dates for this stage will be confirmed in March 2022.

NSW Maritime Projects
Maritime have many projects underway and planned for the future that clubs and sailors may be interested in. These include channel dredging and upgrades to jettys and wharves.

RRS 46 - All Competitors need to be Club Members from January 2022
Why is the rule changing?
The change to Rule 46 centres around duty of care, safety and insurance, but also offers clubs the opportunity to grow their membership base and create clearer lines of communication with potential members.

How does this affect me?
Hoping to bring a friend sailing? You’ll need to make sure that they sign up as a casual/ introductory member at your club. Being a member of a club and registered with Australian Sailing gives clubs information about who is racing which is an important part of their approach to safety. Being registered with Australian Sailing also provides a basic personal injury insurance which serves as a safety net to people who, through injury or accident, incur financial loss.
Child Safeguarding in Sport Induction e-Learning course
All children have the right to feel safe and protected from all forms of abuse, harm and neglect and to take part in sport in a safe, positive and enjoyable environment. To educate and inform people of their responsibilities to protect and look after children, Sport Integrity Australia has launched a new Child Safeguarding in Sport Induction eLearning course.
This course has been specifically designed for National Sporting Organisations, State Sporting Organisations, clubs/affiliated bodies, boards, committees, participants, employees, coaches, contractors, officials, and support personnel and will assist learners to understand and implement the National Integrity Framework Child Safeguarding Policy.
By the end of the course learners will be able to:
- understand what child safeguarding in sport is
- understand what the Child Safeguarding policy is, who it applies to and when
- understand the role of the 14 Child Safe Practices in the Policy
- understand the recruitment and screening requirements
- recognise alleged breaches of the Policy
- identify how to respond to alleged breaches
- If your organisation is bound by the National Integrity Framework you should complete the course. It takes around 45 minutes to complete.
