First female Commodore sworn in for Whitsunday Sailing Club

The Whitsunday Sailing Club has this weekend elected and sworn in its first ever female Commodore. Heather Sutton, the first female Commodore in the club’s history joins the existing team as the newest Commodore to be elected and sworn in at the recent Annual General Meeting.
“I am honoured to become the new Commodore of the Whitsunday Sailing Club and very excited for the year to come. I am looking forward to playing my role in the newly rejuvenated club” Said Heather. “It’s an especially exciting year ahead with the club’s 50th birthday celebrations in April so we are anticipating a big year of growth and expansion”
President Leo Rodriguez was delighted with the result. “We welcome our new Commodore Heather who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team and more importantly time and energy. I look forward to working with the current board for yet another year and continuing the forward direction the club has been taking with it’s continuing upgrades and refurbishments”
The Club will in 2021 celebrate its 50th Birthday on April 2nd which will coincide with the Easter Regatta “The club has certainly grown in its 50 year history and especially in the last 2 years” said board member Terry Archer “2021 will also see us commence the construction of the North Australian Maritime Training Academy which will greatly change the landscape for its guests and members moving forward”
