Family first fun found at Wallagoot Lake Boat Club

Published Tue 14 May 2019

Recently Australian Sailing club service officers Carl Webster and myself, Craig Ferris, had a regional site visit to Wallagoot Lake Boat Club.

It was great to link up with the club, Terry Kirby and Joey Lydiard who had an overwhelming and infectious enthusiasm for the club and teaching learn to sail.

Terry is shown in the photo displaying the “key points” equipment that he uses in the process.

It is clear that there is passion with the sport of sailing when you have volunteers within small but friendly clubs. We were taken back by how nice the sailing area is.

Tucked away just north of Merimbula on the far south coast of NSW, the lake boasts a safe open waterway that should be a destination on any sailors wish list.

If anyone has the chance to visit the area, I would recommend the club as a sailing venue which has a very social and family approach and is very welcoming.
