Expressions of Interest open for ‘Next Level’ Coach Scholarship

Australian Sailing Performance Pathways is seeking expressions of interest from Australian Sailing qualified coaches for a new coach development scholarship. The purpose of this initiative is to identify and support the development of future HP development and HP coaches, and it is aligned to Australian Sailing High Performance strategic focuses including:
- Enhancing the depth and retention of female athletes across classes
- Increasing the number of female coaches within performance teams
- Building a stronger pathway and skills within the new foiling classes (IQFoil and Kite)
- Improving our understanding of ‘foil’ sailing\riding and building understanding earlier in the pathway
- Building stronger club environments to transition more rounded athletes into performance programs in the pathway
- Supporting former athletes who are transitioning to coaching so that they may perform their roles with less trial and error and more structure, intent, and purpose.
This initiative is targeted at club coaches, athletes transitioning into coaching roles and female coaches. It will be of particular interest to those who are interested in coaching and developing their skills within the Performance Pathway.
The application process requires prospective recipients to submit an expression of interest. AS will interview a shortlist of suitable candidates to test:
- Suitability
- Availability
- Motivations
- Understanding of and alignment to AS strategic direction
- HP development understanding and philosophy
Application Process
Please fill out the online form noting areas of coaching experience, along with a copy of the following:
- Current resume (max. two pages)
- A copy of ‘Working with Children Check’
- A copy of ‘Power Boat’ license
- Australian Sailing Number
- Copy of any Coaching Qualifications (AS Sailing Coaching can be obtained from Australian Sailing and are required for the scholarship)
- Completed Application Form
Club Coach to Pathways Program
The deadline for applications will be 6th DECEMBER, 2021 will run through the process for selection and the decision on successful applicants will be announced before FRIDAY 17th DECEMBER, 2021.
