Australian Sailing is committed to ensuring that everyone involved with sailing is treated with respect and dignity. To have respect is to have due regard for the feelings, wishes, or rights of others. Dignity is the importance of recognising people for their inherent humanity and treating them ethically. This is simply being considerate and treating people decently.

The outcome is that everyone participating in sailing is protected from poor behaviours. These are abuse, bullying, harassment, sexual misconduct, unlawful discrimination, victimisation, and vilification. Each of these unacceptable behaviours are explicitly prohibited in the Member Protection Policy. 

All sailing organisations and people in sailing are expected to comply with the Member Protection Policy. This will not only protect participants in sailing, but also club staff, contractors and representatives. The policy applies when dealing with other people from other clubs as well.

Ultimately the message is to do the right thing and treat others with respect and dignity. Australian Sailing wants you to play your part in sailing’s current and future success by living these values.
