The Couta Boat Association is about to launch a 430 page hard cover Coffee Table Book: The Tradition lives On – A Register of the Historic Couta Boats featuring the history of 200 Couta Boats. 

The book has been developed in conjunction with an update of the live online Register on the Couta Boat Association website: www.coutaboat.com.au

The Couta Boat is an iconic part of Australia’s fishing boat heritage and the Couta Boat Association is dedicated to preserving its heritage and promoting it as a classic sailing boat. 

The Couta Boats featured in the Coffee Table book are a mix of heritage boats that have been meticulously restored and boats that have been built from the design, from the early 1980s and onwards, to boats built by present day commercial boatbuilders. In addition, there are amateur wooden boat devotees who have undertaken a one-off project and applied their skills to building the craft.

All boats featured in the book have their own living history and tradition documented in stories and photos that collectively create a rich anthology of maritime history.
