Coach For All - Free Online Course
Published Fri 19 May 2023
‘Coach for All’ is a free education program consisting of four-modules, that provides inclusivity training for Coaches for all levels – from grassroots to professional sport.
Sport should be a place where everyone is included.
Despite modern day Pride initiatives, young athletes still don't feel safe playing sport - contributing to high drop-out rates and mental health issues. To be specific 73 % of young LGBTQ+ athletes don’t feel safe when playing team sports.
Homophobia does not just happen out on the field or on the water. It often appears instead as casual jokes and banter in changing/locker rooms and in the boatyard.
Coaches have a unique power to help drive change.
Allianz has teamed up with Pride in Sport in the creation of the “Coach for All’ training program to help empower coaches to play their part in making sport more inclusive.
The ‘Coach for all’ program empowers instructors and coaches across every level to be more inclusive in a new and modern way.
The presenters for the course are Louise Sauvage OAM, one of Australia’s most successful athletes and Olympic coaches, who has devoted her life to helping young people reach gold medal success in wheelchair racing and Trent Robinson, one of the longest serving coaches in the NRL and former Head Coach of the Sydney Roosters.
Louise and Trent provide useful and practical strategies for coaches to help ensure that every young person feels like they belong in whatever sport they choose.
The course is online and free to all instructors and coaches, it only takes 15 minutes and is broken into four modules to allow you to save and come back to the course when you want.
