Published Fri 11 Oct 2019
Largs Bay Sailing Club is located on the foreshore at Largs Bay, approximately 200m to the north of the Largs Bay jetty on Lady Gowrie Drive at Largs Bay.
Largs Bay is a north western beach-side suburb of Adelaide approximately 20 km from the city centre. LBSC was founded in 1926 and has over 90 years tradition as a family oriented sailing club. Largs Bay Sailing Club commenced its 90th year in 2016. The club was founded in 1926 as the "Largs Bay Dinghy Club" and was renamed as the "Largs Bay Sailing Club" in 1948. There have been many changes to our clubrooms and club members and officials that have made the club what it is today.
LBSC encourages and facilitates competitive sailing events and provides sail training for youth and senior members.
Current Commodore: Nicholas Neale
President: Matthew Carter
Unique to LBSC is that their sailing activities are overseen be a team of Flag Officers all of whom are in their early twenties. Having a team of young officials has been the custom at Largs Bay for the past ten years. Commodore Nicholas Neale is 24 years old and recently attended every AS Club Conference this year to talk about Mentoring and Succession planning. The Vice Commodore Matthew Sampson is 20 years old and Rear Commodore Holly Groome is 24. Holly would like to be the first female Commodore the club has ever had.
The club encourages its race officials and race management volunteers to gain National accreditation and assists members to become qualified race officials and sailing coaches by hosting Australian Sailing training programs and providing subsidies to fund the training.

The beach is accessed via a graded driveway on which boats may be towed by hand or using a motor vehicle. The club provides towing vehicles to assist with transport and launching of larger trailerable boats and coach and safety boats. There are large car parks to the north and south of the club and plenty of on-street parking near the club.
