Australian Sailing has delivered the first of the 2020 Club Conferences in Darwin on Saturday 14^th March.

24 representatives from the NT sailing community gathered at the Darwin Sailing Club for a full day of information sharing and workshops. A full agenda delivered topics on governance, safety, changes to rule 46, membership and participation recruitment and retention initiatives and finished with a strategy workshop to feed key priorities in to the development of the new Australian Sailing Strategic Plan and the following NT operations plan for the next 12 months. Ben Callard, the Regional Manager for the NT said “it was great to have all three clubs represented and participate in the productive conversations throughout the day. The level of conversation and the knowledge on the key topics and AS initiatives has come along in leaps and bounds since we last gather in 2019 for the inaugural NT Clubs Conference.”

Australian Sailing CEO, Ben Houston acknowledged the important role that all clubs around the country play in continuing the advancement of sailing and that all clubs will have the ability to input into the new AS Strategic Plan through the Club Survey which is out now for clubs to complete and through engagement via the remainder of the clubs conference. Ben Houston passed on thanks to all participants who attended the conference acknowledging their ongoing time investment and support for the benefit of Sailing. Ben Houston also made a note of special thanks to our AS Club Services Officer for the NT, Claire Hall for all the great work she does supporting the clubs to grow participation and membership. A notion that received strong support from all in attendance.
