Bolle Australia Match Cup
Published Mon 02 Nov 2020
The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia is pleased to announce an exciting new event scheduled for November 2020. In partnership with Bolle eyewear, the Club will host a new open match racing regatta, the ‘Bolle Australian Cup’. The regatta will be contested over four race days from 24 to 27 November with up to 20 teams invited to participate.
Usually at this time of year the Club is busy preparing for the Musto International Youth Match Racing Regatta. Unfortunately, due to the COVID19 travel restrictions in place for both interstate and international competitors, the Club and regatta sponsor Musto Australasia made the decision for the event not be conducted in 2020.
With no open match racing events currently scheduled across Australia, this new format has been designed to bring together some of Australia’s best sailing talent. Early interest is already flooding into the Club from past Olympians, World Champions and Rolex Sydney Hobart winners.
The new partnership with Bolle Eyewear will essentially mark a relaunch by Bolle back into the Australian marine sailing market, and a welcome first event for new distribution partner Ocean Clothing Group. To celebrate this an exciting prize pack of performance sunglasses will be up for grabs. Racing will be conducted in Rushcutters Bay with racing beginning at midday each day and running into the afternoons to take advantage of Sydney’s beautiful Seabreeze.
Bolle have been innovators in the sunglass industry since 1888 and are a brand that is well known for delivering a technical edge in both performance and on water protection.
“To be able to partner with Australia’s premier yacht club and host an event that will attract and showcase the best sailors in the country is an exciting opportunity and we can’t wait to hit the water”, says David Oliver CEO of Ocean Clothing Group.
The Notice of Race is now available on the CYCA website with request for invitations open until Thursday 5 November.
