Australian Womens Match Racing Championships - Postponed
Published Fri 16 Jul 2021
In conjunction with Australian Sailing, South of Perth Yacht Club (SoPYC) reluctantly announced today the decision to postpone the Australian Women’s Match Racing Championship programmed for 16th to 19th September 2021.
SoPYC and Australian Sailing have made this difficult decision due to the ongoing upheaval caused by the corona virus, State border closures, continuing travel restrictions and the financial risk attached to a last-minute cancellation of the event.
Sailors and officials are all aware of the multitude of issues that may prevent teams and interstate race officials from travelling presently and during the next few months. The likelihood of travel restrictions being imposed by an increasing number of State authorities, mandatory and voluntary quarantine periods leading up to and after the event and community inoculation programmes are factors that have guided the decision.
We are pleased to advise that South of Perth Yacht Club will be the host club for the Australian Women’s Match Racing Championship from 15th to 18th September 2022.
The club is also hosting the Australian Youth Match Racing Championship in July 2022
We look forward to seeing you all in Perth in July and September 2022.
