Australian Sailing Q3 - Quarterly Report:

Published Tue 11 May 2021

The third quarterly report for the year brings us closer to the end of the season. Pleasingly membership numbers across the country seem to be holding steady and we continue to work with Clubs to ensure the data in their revSPORT portals is accurate. Our aim is to continue to decrease the ‘Unpaid or Not Categorised’ people within the system, to ensure that we have the most accurate figures.

SailPass continues to grow in popularity, with this introductory membership offering being taken up by Clubs all over the country.

Our participation courses, being delivered by accredited Discover Sailing Centres are slowly bouncing back – with us being 17% down from this time last year, noting that Q3 last year was when COVID reared its head.

Congratulations to our Top Ten Centres, in particular Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club in WA, who is currently sitting on top. Other clubs from VIC, NSW, QLD and ACT all following closely behind attempting to maintain or better their position in this final upcoming quarter.

The Windsurfing program seems to be growing in popularity again, with centres from NSW, WA and QLD choosing to once again take up this exciting program. The feedback has been that many participants are choosing to continue their boarding journey after attending a learn to windsurf course, as the equipment is affordable and the class itself is fun and exciting.

We wish the Discover Sailing Centres luck for the final quarter of the year to bring in those final participants and hopefully attract newcomers to our sport. Who will be Top Ten come the end of June?
