Australian Sailing Awards to be delivered digitally in 2021

Published Mon 30 Aug 2021

The finalists and winners of the 2021 Australian Sailing Awards will be honoured “virtually” in 2021, with the ongoing uncertainty around the COVID-19 pandemic forcing the cancellation of the annual gala dinner in Sydney for the second year in a row.

Whilst other locations for the function were considered, the risks associated with organising a national dinner were considered to be too great at this time.

Nominations for the Awards closed last week, with judging for the State Awards now underway.

Several states are planning to host events to announce and celebrate the winners of their awards where it is safe to do so. Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia will be hosting Awards events, you can find out more information about those events here.

The winners of the state awards automatically become the nominees for the National Awards, with national winners set to be announced in November. These will be celebrated in-person where possible, but also via a range of digital celebrations across Australian Sailing channels.
